Tom Lehar
Tom Lehar was born in Czech. He and his family came to Canada when Tom was ten. He was raised in B.C.’s Vancouver and Nelson.
Tom is a gifted guitar player, sound engineer and music producer. He currently owns and runs a recording studio in his home town of Prince Rupert.
Tom’s father is a musician, and Tom learned the art of playing in a rock’n'roll band at his father’s side. Over the years, Tom has developed his musical skills as a guitar player, bass player, drummer, song writer and audio engineer by playing in countless bands and projects throughout B.C.
While living in Vancouver, Tom opened a music store in New Westminster. He developed a lesson program there, repaired music equipment and instruments, bought and sold gear and hired himself out as a gear consultant, setting up professionals and amateurs alike with the gear that they needed to pursue their interests and passions. Yes, Tom is quite a gear hound.
Tom has become a second year apprentice electrician while creating a music based family life here in Rupert. He built his recording studio himself and thoroughly enjoys the creative and practical process of building with his hands.
He is actively seeking ways to bring music to the youth in Prince Rupert. He would love to work with youth to put bands together, encourage them to write songs, record their music and coach them through the entire creative process. He is looking for ways to partner with others in the community who wish to hold the vision of giving youth in Rupert a musical means of expression, community building and confidence.
